Description 11 Night Cruise sailing from Venice to Athens aboard Azamara Journey.

Journey from the ancient wonders of Greece to the bustling cultural centers of the Dalmatian Coast, starting your trek with an overnight in Venice. With ample time to indulge in Venetian cuisine and to explore lesser-known Sestieri, you’ll be ready to lay your head to rest as we sail to Slovenia. Full of historic wonders—like the 12th century St. Mary’s of the Assumption Cathedral—and just 30 minutes away from the Skocjan Caves (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), you’ll appreciate the late departure. Another late stay in Bologna allows you to sample some of the finest pasta, cheeses, and meat sauces Italy has to offer, then set sail for three awe-inspiring Croatian ports.

One of Croatia’s most underrated and eclectic cities, Zadar is a juxtaposition of old and new, and you’ll love exploring its artistic flair during a late stay. Spend a day outdoors on the island of Hvar—fondly known as “the sunniest place in Europe”—letting the fresh air caress your skin. Then, we’re on our way to a late night in the city of Dubrovnik, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in itself, boasting impressive stone walls, winding streets, and charming squares dating back to the 7th century.

History awaits on the next leg of your voyage, with a stop in Kotor as well as a visit to the mystical island of Corfu. With its hauntingly beautiful landscape, culture-filled countryside, and UNESCO World Heritage Site Old Town, you’ll have plenty of adventure to fill your day and evening on this late-night stop.

Spend time with loggerhead sea turtles in Zakynthos, a gorgeous, beachy resort town in Greece. Then, spend a relaxing day at sea before completing your trip in Athens. Brimming with markets, museums, and more, you’ll want to cap off your Adriatic adventure with a few days discovering the capital of Greece and home of western civilization—Athens.

Highlights of this cruise:

Venice
Experience Venice, one of the most captivating—and romantic—cities in the world. Tour the city’s cobblestone streets and overarching bridges, or take to the water and explore the canals on a water taxi or gondola. As you make your way through the city, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to shop, sample delicious Veneto wines, or people watch in Piazza San Marco.

Ravenna
Dubbed “The Mosaic City”, Ravenna is best known for its churches, which date back 1,500 years and are decorated with stunning, multicolored Byzantine mosaics. In Ravenna, you can visit Dante's tomb, or tour the grounds of the Azienda Agricola Vignato Virgilio winery then reward yourself for a day of sightseeing with a glass of crisp gambellara or a rich cabernet. Cin cin!

Zadar
Old meets new in beautiful Zadar. Walk quaint cobblestone streets from a bygone era that give way to modern marvels of architecture and technology. Escape the city and explore two national parks—Krka and Plitvice—both teeming with natural beauty. Afterwards, sample Maraschino, a traditional liqueur made from marasca cherries and produced in Zadar distilleries since the 16th century.

Corfu
It's one of the most popular Greek Isles for good reason. Explore the cobblestoned streets of Old Town in search of handcrafted treasures or while away the day on a sandy beach in town, or head out to the charming countryside. Here you'll find olive groves, lemon trees, and rugged cliffs that are more than postcard-worthy.

Athens
Start your journey in Piraeus with an archaeological walk past landmarks like the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Ancient Agora, and of course, the Acropolis. Afterwards, head to the Central Market for a feast of fresh fruit and veggies, nuts, olives, and Grecian cheese. Finally, check out a local taverna where you can rub elbows with the locals well into the wee hours of the night.
