Embark on a magnificent journey into the East when you combine Bangkok, Bali & Beyond and Southeast Asia & Hong Kong. Get to know some of the world’s most vibrant cultures, meeting those who call them home, exploring the deeply spiritual cultures of Indonesia and the richly historic nations of Vietnam and China. Overnight stays in five spectacular ports let you explore up close and in depth.
Highlights of this cruise:
Bali (Benoa), Indonesia
Embark your ship today in Benoa, on the southern tip of the lush and tropical island of Bali. Settle in to your veranda stateroom and explore your ship this afternoon. As we remain in port until the late evening, you’ll have time to enjoy dinner in Denpasar. The island’s colorful capital is just 20 minutes away.
Jakarta, Java, Indonesia
Arrive in Jakarta, Indonesia’s bustling and colorful capital, for an overnight stay. The city has been important to trade since the 4th century, and served as the capital of the Dutch East Indies during its 150-year presence here. Discover its treasures during a city tour that takes you to the National Monument, Jakarta History Museum, Wayang Museum (dedicated to Javanese puppetry), Sarinah Thamrin Plaza and enormous Fatahillah Square.
Singapore, Singapore
Arrive in Singapore today. This city-state is spread across 63 islands at the tip of the Malay Peninsula and was established in 1819 for the British East India Company by Sir Stamford Raffles, after whom Singapore’s famed hotel is named. Today, it is a diverse city of varied influences, as you can see during visits to the Colonial District, Little India, Arab Street and Chinatown.
Bangkok (Laem Chabang), Thailand
Arrive in Bangkok today. Settle in to your veranda stateroom and take time to explore your ship. Because we are berthed overnight in Laem Chabang, you will have much of the day tomorrow to explore the glittering Thai capital.
Sihanoukville, Cambodia
Call on Cambodia’s coastal town of Sihanoukville, surrounded by stunning sand beaches and turquoise waters. Here, New Khmer architecture overlooks the comings and goings of modern tuk-tuks, carriages drawn by motorcycles. Visit Wat Krom with its colorful murals and Buddha sculptures, stroll Independence Beach, and explore a local market and fishing village. Sihanoukville is the gateway to Cambodia’s stunning Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world and a supreme example of classical Khmer architecture. If you wish, you may join an overnight excursion to witness this magnificent, sprawling temple complex.
Ho Chi Minh City
Call in Ho Chi Minh City today, formerly known as Saigon. Explore a heady mix of French and Vietnamese cultures here, where baguettes and croissants are sold alongside pho, Vietnam’s beloved noodle soup. Browse the enlightening exhibits at the National History Museum, where galleries chronicle the nation’s past. Or, view the Reunification Palace, the Central Post Office and Chinatown, and meet artisans at a lacquer workshop.
Da Nang (Chan May), Vietnam
Explore Da Nang, a sleepy backwater transformed into a US base during the Vietnam War and today a bustling cultural center. Witness typical Vietnamese countryside here, blanketed with rice paddies and dotted with water buffalo. Admire the city’s colonial architecture, standing alongside ornate temples, and explore the fascinating Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture. You will also visit legendary China Beach, where US soldiers came for relaxation during the war. If you wish, explore the splendid architecture of Hoi An, spared from wartime bombing, or the treasures of Hue, once a dynastic capital.
