Ship Maud
Destination EU Norwegian Fjords
Nights 21
Departure Date 04 Mar 2023
Description 21 Night Cruise sailing from Dover roundtrip aboard MS Maud.

MS Maud, previously MS Midnatsol, is named after one of the most famous polar vessels of all time, Roald Amundsens “Maud” from 1917. The original “Maud” got her name from the first Queen of modern-day Norway. She also had her namesake in Hurtigruten’s 1925 flagship DS Dronning Maud (“DS Queen Maud”).

Today´s MS Maud is equipped with advanced technology that makes her exceptionally well-suited for expedition cruises in Norway.

Premium comfort, Science Center and gym:
The interior of the ship features natural Scandinavian materials like granite, oak, birch and wool, to create a relaxed and stylish atmosphere. On deck 5, you can visit our Science Center, which is packed with state-of-the-art technology and interactive learning tools.

On deck 9, you can enjoy the spectacular views from the outdoor Observation deck, workout in the outdoor gym and soak in one of the hot tubs. And there´s no better way to enjoy the view than with a refreshment in the Explorer lounge & bar.

Cabins and public areas:
Norway´s stunning scenery is reflected in the ship´s interior design. Comfortable cabins and suites feature natural Scandinavian materials, such as granite, oak, birch and wool. Our stylish and welcoming public areas create great places to watch the world´s most beautiful coastline pass by.

Cruise Overview:
This extensive winter expedition cruise brings you to a wide range of Norway’s coastal communities, snow-covered mountains, and fjords, hopefully under the Northern Lights.

Above the Arctic Circle
You’ll spend over 10 days above the Arctic Circle during winter, chasing Norway's Northern Lights. Learn about polar exploration history in Arctic capital Tromsø, admire the Northern Lights Cathedral in Alta, and remember WWII British heroes in Narvik.

You’ll find the fishing villages of Svolvær and Reine in the Lofoten Islands picture-perfect, surrounded by mountains dusted in snow. We’ll then sail to the top of the European continent at North Cape, the turning point of your cruise.

Off the beaten track
Thanks to our smaller ship size and expert knowledge of the Norwegian coast, we’ll bring you to hidden places few ever see. Sail into spectacular Hjørundfjord, discover geologically diverse Senja island, and visit remote but charming communities in Kalvåg and Mosterøy.

You’ll go into full expedition mode along the Helgeland coast and Vesterålen, exploring these scenic areas based on the local weather conditions on the day. Your adventure will also take you to the beautiful city of Bergen, the bookshops of Fjærland, and to Loen at the heart of Nordfjord.

By the end of this great adventure into the Arctic and back to Dover, you’ll have made many special memories. Don’t be surprised if you’ve fallen in love with the Norwegian coast, perhaps even witnessing the magnificent Northern Lights several times.
