Description |
12 Night Cruise sailing from Dublin roundtrip onboard Azamara Quest.
Your voyage begins in Dublin, with a full day to explore cathedrals and museums, or simply relax in a pub with a pint of Guinness. Once you’ve left the Emerald Isle, you’ll have two full days at sea to enjoy the world-class amenities, entertainment, and dining aboard the Azamara Quest®. Dock in Reykjavik, where you’ll spend two days plunging into hot springs, sampling local cuisine, and discovering museums and galleries. Next up is Isafjordur, a remote fishing community with a quaint Old Town and a lively arts and music scene.
If you love horses, you’re in luck–your next destination, Skagafjörður, is the only county in Iceland where horses outnumber people. During an overnight stay in Akureyri, marvel at the snow-capped mountain peaks, stunning fjords, and lush countryside. More wildlife awaits in Husavik: known as the whale-watching capital of Iceland, the waters surrounding this coastal town are home to humpbacks, minke, and the mammoth blue whale. Your final Iceland destination is Seydisfjordur, boasting some of the country’s most unique architecture, natural beauty, and friendly faces. Board the Azamara Quest® for two more days at sea before returning to Dublin.
Highlights of this cruise:
Dublin, Ireland
There’s a story waiting around every corner in Dublin. Spend time in Temple Bar and watch the city come alive, take a ghost tour to discover Dracula’s unnerving connection to Dublin, and behold a view you’ll never forget from the Observation Wheel. Of course, no Irish adventure is complete without a trip to the Guinness Storehouse where you’ll learn the history of Ireland’s most popular stout.
Reykjavik, Iceland
Domain of the Norse thunder god, Thor, and shaped by fire and ice, Iceland’s volcanic landscape is a spectacular collage of lava fields, craters, waterfalls, and imposing mountain ranges.
Vast geothermal springs power the spray of geysers, provide residents with the hot water that heats their homes, and fills the warm public pools where locals go to relax and catch up with friends. Visitors are encouraged to join in the fun.
Reykjavik itself is a 21st century European city, with fine restaurants, cozy cafes, and intriguing museums and galleries.
Isafjordur, Iceland
On a voyage with Azamara, guests see a night-and-day difference. And when we take you on a dramatic journey across Ãsafjarðardjúp Bay to Ãsafjörður, Iceland, you’ll experience a lot more day, thanks to long summer days with nearly 24-hours of sunlight and longer stays in port. Nestled in the northwest region of Iceland, tucked away in the North Atlantic, the towering peaks of this unspoiled wilderness welcome you. This remote fishing town, the largest in the West Fjords, has long enjoyed a prosperous fishing industry thanks to the rich fishing waters found off the coast. Created by ancient volcanoes, first settled by Viking Helgi Hrolfsson in the ninth century, and established as a trading post in the late 16th century, Ãsafjörður has a long history—and the people and this place have many stories to tell.
Seydisfjordur, Iceland
Nestled within a deep fjord and surrounded by dramatic snow-capped mountains lies Seyðisfjörður—a quirky, charming enclave on Iceland’s eastern coast. Built on the back of the Icelandic herring fishing industry, there’s nowhere on Earth quite as picturesque, peaceful, or peculiar as Seyðisfjörður, and, with Azamara Club Cruises’® smaller ships, we think we fit right in.
One of the most historically and architecturally interesting towns in East Iceland, Seyðisfjörður is home to a community of colorful wooden buildings dating back to the 19th century, and a quick stroll through town to take them in is a must. Be sure to stop at the famed Blue Church along the way—its distinct powder blue hue and architecture make it one of the most recognizable landmarks in Iceland.
Akureyri, Iceland
Akureyri is considered a city, in fact Iceland’s second largest, even though its total population is only about 18,000.
Set on the shores of one of Iceland’s most spectacular fjords, with a backdrop of countryside earth tones and greens and perennially snow-capped mountains, it is quite a sight to behold. Weather patterns here are a bit of a puzzle - only 60 miles from the Arctic Circle, summer temperatures can soar as high as 60°F. No surprise then that a main attraction is the Botanical Gardens, where over 2,000 species of native and non-native plants flourish without benefit of a greenhouse.
Husavik, Iceland
The whale-watching capital of Iceland, Husavik sits on the eastern shore of Skjálfandi Bay, where humpbacks, minke, and blue whales breach the waves and slap the water with their enormous fins. Geothermal springs south of town are the perfect spot to relax, while the Exploration Museum pays tribute to adventures mapping the globe, and beyond.
Seydisfjordur, Iceland
Alive with history and culture. Overflowing with natural beauty. Explore iconic architecture, crashing waterfalls, and local art. |
