10 Night Cruise sailing from Rome roundtrip onboard Wind Surf.
Encircle the Isle of Sicily and discover sparkling resorts favored by emperors, towns frozen in time by legendary volcanoes, Maltese palaces where knights and Grand Masters once gathered … this itinerary has them all. Watch the stunning Amalfi Coast pass by from the deck of your intimate small ship and raise a glass of limoncello to another blissful day in the warm Mediterranean sunshine.
Highlights of this cruise:
Rome, Italy
Devour (or at least taste) 2,000 years of history: Stones brought to life by Michelangelo, the clash of ghostly gladiators in the Colosseum, the treasures of the Vatican. Or mingle with the locals and get in the mood for your upcoming yacht adventure by renting a boat on the lake in Villa Borghese, a tranquil park in the middle of the city. Afterwards, join the nightly passeggiata (promenade) along the Corso. Molto bello!
Catania, Italy
In this fascinating city nestled at the foot of Mount Etna you’ll find a thriving downtown that is not only the active city center, but a historic World Heritage Site, combining the best of ancient and modern city style. Your options are as wide as your imagination. Explore the temperamental volcano that has reshaped the city many times, visit the beautiful setting of Taormina where stunning views and beautiful antiquities vie for your attention. Or, if you prefer, explore the ancient city of Syracuse, called by Cicero himself “the most beautiful of all.â€
Gozo, Malta
This is the legendary home of the nymph Calypso — so, of course, it’s a day perfect for fun in the azure waters of the Mediterranean. From your yacht’s Watersports Platform you can swim like the sea nymph you were meant to be, kayak like an expert, snorkel, wind surf, whatever your heart desires. On shore, treat yourself to a four-wheel tour of some of the island’s most stunning sites — or, if you’re feeling a little more epicurean, join us as we forage the countryside for fresh herbs and vegetables which we’ll then savor in a sumptuous farmhouse lunch.
Trapani, Sicily, Italy
At once ancient and contemporary, Trapani is a city of contrasts. From the salt marshes that produce much of the Mediterranean’s signature colored salts, to the intricate mosaics of Mozia and the famous wines of Marsala, to the best view in all of Sicily from the medieval hill town of Erice where the colorful gardens are rivaled only by the cannolis for pure sensory delight. The line of 17th century windmills, still hard at work in ancient Phoenician salt marshes beckons you to return to Trapani again and again.
Lipari, Italy
Join the other exclusive yachts in the harbor for a delightful day absorbing Lipari’s unique atmosphere. Only reachable by sea, and only by small ships, this island in the Aeolians retains a timeless Sicilian charm. Storm the castle once sacked by Red Beard the pirate. Peer in Bartholomew Cathedral for a look at its exquisite ceiling frescoes. Or just stroll about town enjoying views of the clear blue bay and the smoke signals emanating from the neighboring island of Stromboli.
Amalfi, Italy
The town of Amalfi lies at the mouth of a deep ravine surrounded by dramatic cliffs and coastal scenery. As part of the Amalfi Coast, it has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is an important tourist destination. The whole region is famed for its lemons, which are about double the size of other lemons, and the production of the limoncello liqueur. An optional tour can take you to the UNESCO archaeological areas of Pompeii, Positano and Ravello.
