For over 50 years, Lindblad Expeditions has been turning vacationers into informed and engaged explorers. Together with National Geographic we offer intimate small-ship expedition cruises that, unlike traditional cruises, are your opportunity to encounter the world’s most pristine and inspiring places up close with the seasoned experts who know them best.

Our expedition cruises provide the safest and most innovative ways to explore places already “discovered” and those that are still very, very wild. Whether you choose to go on a Galapagos cruise, an Alaska cruise, a cruise to Egypt, or any of our other cruise destinations, each expedition cruise features an unmatched combination of adventure travel technology as well as well-appointed cabins, regional and sustainable cuisine and friendly, personal service.

We believe the more closely our guests are able to connect with a destination, the more valuable an affect it will have on their lives and on the more they will come to care about and protect it for future exploration.

Our 62-guest expedition ships offer the perfect platform for exploring Alaska. With a shallow draft, they can go where larger ships cannot, nosing up to waterfalls in secluded coves and venturing into narrow channels where humpback whales and orcas come to feed.

Newly Redesigned cabins:
Both National Geographic Sea Bird and National Geographic Sea Lion have been transformed. The lounge and bar, center of onboard life, have been handsomely re-styled and renovated to accommodate the expedition community. The refreshed dining room is now doubly welcoming. And every cabin in every category has been outfitted with fresh cherry veneer and our signature bed lines. From the sleekly framed photos on the walls, to the fresh paint, carpets and polished brass, each ship sets the new standard for expedition hospitality and comfort.

Our 62-guest expedition ships offer the perfect platform for exploring. With a shallow draft, they can go where larger ships cannot, sailing through narrow channels where whales feed, and among the remote islands dotting the Alaskan shoreline.

5 Night Cruise sailing from Juneau to Sitka aboard National Geographic Sea Lion.

DAY 1: Juneau
Arrive in downtown Juneau and take in the incredible view of the Gastineau Channel from the top of Mt. Roberts. Embark National Geographic Sea Bird or National Geographic Sea Lion in the early evening. (B)

DAY 2: Tracy Arm – Fords Terror Wilderness
Wake up in Tracy Arm or Endicott Arm, part of the Tracy Arm–Fords Terror Wilderness. Cruise through this glacially carved fjord, then set out to explore by expedition landing craft. View the soaring Dawes or South Sawyer Glacier up close—and keep an eye out for the dramatic sight of huge slabs of ice breaking off and crashing into the water below. If conditions permit, paddle a kayak below the steep walls of the fjord. (B,L,D)

DAY 3: Haines
Known as the “adventure capital of Alaska,” Haines is situated on a scenic peninsula between the Chilkoot and Chilkat Rivers. Hike one of the many world-class trails in the area, enjoy an optional flight-seeing tour over Glacier Bay National Park, or cycle along the edge of a glacial lake. Or visit the ancient Tlingit village of Klukwan and enjoy a traditional dance and cultural performance before setting off on a rafting excursion, keeping an eye out for bald eagles, bears, and moose as we float through the spectacular Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. (B,L,D)

DAY 4: Icy Strait & the Inian Islands
Spend today searching for wildlife in rich waters where the Pacific Ocean meets the Inside Passage. Options include an expedition landing craft cruise among the Inian Islands, where an abundance of Steller sea lions reside; kayaking in the calm outer waters of Glacier Bay; or hiking in lush temperate rain forest. (B,L,D)

DAY 5: Exploring Baranof Or Chichagof Islands
Explore the breathtaking bays of Baranof or Chichagof Islands, both part of the ancient Tongass National Forest. Chichagof Island harbors one of the highest concentrations of brown bears in the world, and both islands are home to diverse wildlife. Kayak or paddleboard along rugged coastlines, and in the afternoon, go hiking through the temperate rain forest, listening for bald eagles calling out from the tops of towering spruce and hemlock trees. (B,L,D)

DAY 6: Sitka / Disembark
Disembark in Sitka, situated on the western coast of Baranof Island and overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Take a walk in Sitka National Historical Park, where Tlingit and Haida totem poles tower over coastal trails. Visit the Alaska Raptor Center for an up-close look at Alaska’s birds of prey. Transfer to the airport for flights home. (B)
