The journey begins in Lisbon, before making our way down the coast to the charming villages and toboggan rides of Madeira, Next, it’s on to the gorgeous Canary Islands. Tenerife blends rugged volcanic landscapes with Spanish flair, while Gran Canaria combines a stunning variety of landscapes and natural attractions.
After two days at sea, arrive on Africa’s Smiling Coast in Banjul, The Gambia, and head to Albert Market for an authentic taste of local life. Then, enjoy three days at sea before arriving in the Ghanaian capital of Accra, where golden sands, bustling bazaars, and colorful coastlines await.
Another three days at sea gives you plenty of time to treat yourself to a relaxing spa experience, dine at one of our specialty restaurants, and take in a spectacular show. Once in Luanda, Angola’s shining capital, you’ll find a mix of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, meandering oceanside promenades, and ornate churches.
Then, it’s on to Namibia’s Walvis Bay, where you can venture inland for a bucket-list African safari. In Luderitz, discover a quaint fishing village with a distinct German vibe and a rich history rooted in the diamond rush. After another day at sea, the journey ends in Cape Town, South Africa.

Lisbon, Portugal
One of the oldest cities in the world, Lisbon is rich in architecture and criss-crossed by monument-studded grand boulevards. Must-sees include the church of Igreja de Sao Vicente de Fora, which dates back to the 12th century; Musee Calouste Gulbenkian, one of Europe’s leading fine arts museums; and Torre de Belém, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most famous monuments in Portugal.
Funchal (Madeira), Portugal
Madeira has its share of captivating squares, picturesque villages, idyllic landscapes, and stunning views. It also offers some unexpected pleasures, like it’s wildly different parks and gardens. Take a cable car up to Monte so that you may descend by toboggan sledge. Originally a form of fast transport for Monte residents, the trip involves sliding at high speed over narrow, winding streets.
Tenerife, Canary Islands
A notoriously festive destination, Tenerife is the biggest, most well-known of Spain’s Canary Islands, and is characterized by a rugged coastline and miles of beaches, popular for kite surfing and swimming.
Gran Canaria, Canary Islands
With its variety of landscapes, climates, and attractions, Gran Canaria is sometimes referred to as a “Miniature Continentâ€. The south features sunny resort communities, the bird sanctuary of Palmisos Park, and Maspalomas (renowned for its beaches, sand dunes, and lighthouse), while the east has the fishing village of Puerto de Mogan, otherwise known as “Little Venice†due to its many canals.
Banjul, Gambia
It’s referred to as Africa’s Smiling Coast. Not only because it’s home to the mouth of the Gambia River, it’s also because the locals are famously friendly and eager to share their colorful culture with visitors. Head to Albert Market for an authentic look, touch, and taste of local life, and head to a nature reserve where you’ll find the closest tropical forest to Europe.
Accra (Tema), Ghana
You’re “Ghana†love Accra! This capital city is pulsing with possibility and infectious, inspiring energy. Once central to the slave trade, Accra looks forward to the future with unique museums and galleries, and colorful street art splashed across colonial buildings. Don’t miss the views from the Jonestown lighthouse, the cultural epicenter of Osu, or the authentic feast that awaits when you explore the street food stalls of bustling markets.
Luanda, Angola
Along a half a moon-shaped bay on Africa’s rugged western shores, you’ll discover Luanda, Angola’s shining capital. Blending a colonial past with modern construction, Luanda is home to towering memorials, UNESCO World Heritage sites, meandering oceanside promenades, and ornate churches.
Walvis Bay, Namibia
Perched across from beautiful Pelican Point, Walvis Bay is naturally sheltered from the rugged surf stretching north up Namibia’s coast.
