Your voyage begins with an overnight in evocative Venice, where a little window-shopping in the Castello neighborhood is the perfect opening for your voyage . A late stay in Bologna is next, where you’ll sample some of the finest pasta, cheeses, and meat sauces in Italy.
Spend a leisurely day at sea as you pamper yourself in Sanctum Spa before arriving in Kotor, one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval cities. Stroll Old Town’s cobblestone streets, or climb over 1,300 steps to the Castle of St. John for breathtaking views of the walled city and Bay of Kotor.
Experience unique Romanesque style and endless olive groves in Brindisi and savor a late night in Siracusa—a quaint, walkable city protected by a seawall that offers spectacular views of the turquoise Ionian Sea.
Don’t miss Mount Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe during our stop in Taormina, or the famous coast road during a late stay in picture-perfect Amalfi. Your journey continues in Sorrento, a cliff-side city home to the archeological ruins of Pompeii. Take a relaxing chair lift ride to the very top of the island, as the views are jaw-droppingly gorgeous, before continuing your adventure in the Eternal City of Rome.
Livorno is the gateway to the magnificent art and architecture of Florence, Pisa’s famous leaning tower, and rustic Tuscan vineyards. One more day at sea brings us to our final destination of Barcelona where you can reflect on your journey at Osteria all’Alba— a local hangout—before heading home. Tour the city’s cobblestone streets and overarching bridges, or take to the water and explore the canals on a water taxi or gondola. As you make your way through the city, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to shop, sample delicious Veneto wines, or people watch in Piazza San Marco.
Ravenna, Italy
Dubbed “The Mosaic Cityâ€, Ravenna is best known for its churches, which date back 1,500 years and are decorated with stunning, multicolored Byzantine mosaics. In Ravenna, you can visit Dante’s tomb, or tour the grounds of the Azienda Agricola Vignato Virgilio winery then reward yourself for a day of sightseeing with a glass of crisp gambellara or a rich cabernet. Kotor, Montenegro
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kotor is filled with churches, shops, bars, restaurants, and hidden piazzas. (The latter are perfect for enjoying Montenegrin wines like the red Vranac or dry white KrstaÄ.) The entire city is surrounded by stone, both in the form of imposing Mount Saint John and by towering ancient walls, creating a cozy feeling of protection when you walk the cobblestone streets.
Siracusa, Sicily, Italy
Classic sights like the Ortygia, Neapolis, and the Basilica of Santa Lucia are always worth a visit, but if you’re looking for something a little more offbeat, take in a puppet theatre show—a traditional form of Sicilian entertainment. The stunning Fonte Aretusa was once the source of the city’s drinking water, and now the pond and surrounding area is a scenic spot, perfect for a picnic lunch.
Giardini Naxos, (Taormina), Sicily, Italy
For rest and relaxation, Giardini Naxos is just the ticket, with a coast that seems to stretch on for miles. To the left looms Mount Etna, Italy’s largest active volcano. Hikes to the top are only advised for experienced hikers (dress warmly!), but the Silvestri Craters are fun to explore at any skill level. Or head to the hilltop town of Taormina, one of the most beautiful places in all of Sicily.
Amalfi, Italy
Live it up in the land of limoncello. Perched on one of the world’s most stunning coastlines, Amalfi delivers a true Italian experience. Discover unique shops and galleries, take a thrilling cliffside drive, or stay close to the shore and live la dolce vita.
Sorrento, Italy
Looking out from Sorrento is the isle of Capri. The island is divided into two main parts, Capri and Anacapri. Capri is full of Italian luxury, with designer stores and five-star hotels lining the streets, while Anacapri is slightly more down-to-earth. Take a relaxing chair lift ride to the very top of the island, as the views are jaw-droppingly gorgeous.

Always enchanting, the Eternal City will captivate you—no matter how many times you visit. Walk in the steps of gladiators at the Coliseum, channel your inner statesman at the Forum, or gaze up in wonder at Michelangelo’s masterwork at St. Peter’s Basilica. Pasta and vino are a must, and there are plenty of places to relax and refuel after a day of exploration.

Barcelona is a cosmopolitan masterpiece. With a history rich in art and architecture, medieval, Gothic, and modern influences can be seen all over the city. Start at the waterfront and stroll up the shady, tree-lined Las Ramblas boulevard and discover some of the city’s best shopping and bustling cafes.
