14 Night cruise departing from Kangerlussuaq to Montreal onboard Crystal Endeavor.

Search for whales, seals and seabirds among Greenland’s extraordinary landscape of glaciers and fjords, and discover Norse history and fascinating Inuit culture, too. In Canada’s High Arctic, explore UNESCO-listed landmarks and pristine wilderness.

Highlights of this cruise:

KANGERLUSSUAQ, GREENLAND
INLAND EXPLORATIONS
Summer is the season of the midnight sun. It is easy to lose one’s sense of time while exploring the gateway to Greenland. As the country’s only inland town, the adventurous spirit finds plenty to pursue on the massive ice cap nearby and at the mouth of the fjord. Visit the Kangerlussaq Museum to uncover the town’s history as a U.S. Air Force base or kayak in one of the backcountry’s lakes during the region’s endless days.

SISIMIUT, GREENLAND
REMOTE REPRIEVE
For those seeking backcountry adventures and scenic cruises, this rugged, remote town offers endless pursuits in nature with a touch of urban cool. Wildlife enthusiasts can search for reindeer and muskox while learning about Greenland’s sustainable practices, and fly fisherman can hook a bounty of Arctic char from its mountain rivers. Hiking the top of Palasip Qaqqaa or Nasaasaaq offer peerless vistas while a local skate park welcomes BMX stunts day and night.

ILULISSAT, GREENLAND
NATURE LOVER’S DELIGHT
Aptly named for its most prominent feature, icebergs, Ilulissat welcomes nature lovers the world over to peer at its awe-inspiring collection of frozen sculptures crackling in every direction. Whale watching is a cherished pastime while hiking the trails, Zodiac cruising, and camping under the stars offer unforgettable encounters with nature.

EQI GLACIER / DISKO BAY, GREENLAND
Eqi Glacier – more popularly known as “the calving glacier” – lies along Greenland’s stunning west coast, around 50 miles north of Greenland’s third largest city, Ilulissat. One of the nation’s largest and most active glaciers, chunks of ice are constantly breaking off – or calving – into the waters of beautiful Disko Bay, which is typically crowded with the enormous icebergs and teeming with humpback, minke and fin whales.

PAAMIUT, GREENLAND
WHERE THE KING OF THE SKY SOARS
To encounter one of the most iconic elements of this Greenlandic town, one must simply look up. The white-tailed eagle, known as Nattoralik, is abundant amid the foggy skies. While exploring scenic hiking trails amid fields of angelica, sailing passed the old villages dotting the fjord, or being inspired by the area’s architecture, those seeking an experience off the beaten path will find it here.

IVIGTUUT, GREENLAND
A RARE GEM
Located in the Arsuk Fjord, this abandoned mining town was vibrant and active for nearly 130 years. Today, this mineral-rich area known for its abundance of rare cryolite offers only a hint of its golden years. One can still visit the empty mine, rent one of the forgotten houses along the water, or search for humpback whales along the fjord’s quiet shores via Zodiac.

QASSIMIUT, GREENLAND
A SLEEPY SETTLEMENT
As the smallest, permanent settlement in Greenland, it was founded in 1835 as a trading station. Vertical mountains surround numerous fjords which carve deep into the land. In this sleepy town, explore its untouched natural surrounds, see the richly-colored houses, and relish a cultural exchange with its few inhabitants.

NARSARSUAQ, GREENLAND
FABLES & FJORDS
Stand in the place where Erik the Red and Viking settlers stood over a millennium ago. This is the land where Norse Vikings gave Greenland its name and where the New World’s first Christian church was built. Today, there’s an airfield close by. Turquoise icebergs and the deep verdant Valley of Flowers give way to the Greenland ice sheet above which eagles and hawks soar. Hiking, biking, sailing, fishing, or simply taking a rest on scenic beaches are all worth the journey to this fabled locale.

L’ANSE AUX MEADOWS, NEWFOUNDLAND, CANADA
UNESCO-LISTED VIKING SETTLEMENT
Canada’s L’Anse aux Meadows, a UNESCO World Heritage site, sits at the end of Newfoundland’s Great Northern Peninsula, where Leif Erikson set foot on continental North America around the year 1000 AD, preceding the arrival of Christopher Columbus by about 500 years. The archaeological site features the remains of the original Viking settlement and replica buildings where costumed guides bring to life Viking traditions. Nearby Norstead Viking Village houses a replica of Leif Erikson’s ship.

WOODY POINT, NEWFOUNDLAND, CANADA
GEOLOGIC WONDERLAND
Situated on Bonne Bay in the heart of Newfoundland’s Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the town of Woody Point provides an idyllic gateway to the park’s natural wonders. Its scenery of flat-top mountains, fjords, valleys and lakes is the handiwork of continental drift and glacial action over millennia. Just beyond Woody Point lie the Tablelands, the park’s centerpiece, offering the rare opportunity to walk on the Earth’s mantle, usually found far below the Earth’s crust.

QUÉBEC CITY, QUÉBEC, CANADA
A FORTIFIED TREASURE
Just northeast of the UNESCO-designated Vieux-Québec (Old Town), Montmorency Falls Park enchants with striking flows that are one and a half times taller than Niagara Falls. Explore the streets of the Old Town presided over by the Château Frontenac for a taste of French-Canadian culture found in classic bistros and cafés, and explore proud French history found in numerous museums.

MONTRÉAL, P.Q., CANADA
MONTRÉAL, P.Q., CANADA
Cosmopolitan Montréal is Canada’s second-largest city and cultural capital. It is the third-largest French-speaking city in the world and has been dubbed the “Paris of the North.” Cultural contrasts are widespread as, although Montréal is predominantly French in culture, ethnic diversity abounds. This is a city of great charm, as you’ll discover in its sympathetic blend of the old and the new, from the Place d’Armes and its beautiful 18th-century buildings to the ultra-modern downtown area. Montréal received international acclaim when it hosted Expo `67 and the 1976 Summer Olympic Games. Its exuberant vitality promises to keep it at the forefront of great world cities well into this century and beyond.
