12 Night Cruise sailing from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia aboard Crystal Endeavor.

The shores of Puerto Deseado, Isla Pingüinito and Port Stanley have been enticing wildlife enthusiasts and nature-loving adventurists for centuries, including Charles Darwin’s famed expedition on the HMS Beagle. Understandably, as the destinations – and the islands that surround them – are thriving habitats for several penguin species, curious black and white Commerson’s dolphins, red-legged cormorants, albatrosses and more.

From Buenos Aires’ sophistication and culture, venture into Patagonia and beyond, where wildlife outnumbers human life by millions and only the boldest explorers tread. Boasting as much maritime history as scientific clout, the Falkland Islands and remote isles of Argentina have stories to tell. Learn about the Yaghan and Ona Indians who tended the flames of Tierra del Fuego, and the straits explored by Magellan in the 16th century.

Highlights of this cruise:

Buenos Aires
The classic capital city of Argentina has countless avenues, cafés and art galleries for you to explore. Buenos Aires is also known for its elaborate European-influenced architecture and sophisticated elegance.

New Island
Situated off the southeastern coast of South America, in the remote Falkland Islands (also known as Islas Malvinas), is New Island. The island’s terrain is a symphony of rolling hills and open plains sprinkled with white-sand beaches, spectacular cliffs and hidden coves. A breeding home for more than 40 species of birds, you might spot gentoo, Magellanic and rockhopper penguins, as well as albatrosses, cormorants and more. The remains of a whaling station mar an otherwise pristine landscape.

Port Stanley
The 700+ islands comprising the Falklands are located some 350 miles east of Patagonia, 1,000 miles north of Antarctica, and as the locals say, a mere 8,000 miles from Britain. One of the last great wilderness destinations, here you’ll find penguins, albatrosses and petrels, as well as maritime interests centered around the British Royal Navy, fishing fleets from a variety of nations and scientific launches to Antarctica.

Ushuaia
Ushuaia lies on the triangular-shaped island of Tierra del Fuego. While Ferdinand Magellan was exploring the straits between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans in 1520, he was amazed by the smoke and fires which seemed to appear at every turn. These fires, kept continuously alight by the Yaghan and Ona Indians, became the inspiration for the name “Tierra del Fuego,” Land of Fire.
