For over 50 years, Lindblad Expeditions has been turning vacationers into informed and engaged explorers. Together with National Geographic we offer intimate small-ship expedition cruises that, unlike traditional cruises, are your opportunity to encounter the world’s most pristine and inspiring places up close with the seasoned experts who know them best.

Our expedition cruises provide the safest and most innovative ways to explore places already “discovered” and those that are still very, very wild. Whether you choose to go on a Galapagos cruise, an Alaska cruise, a cruise to Egypt, or any of our other cruise destinations, each expedition cruise features an unmatched combination of adventure travel technology as well as well-appointed cabins, regional and sustainable cuisine and friendly, personal service.

We believe the more closely our guests are able to connect with a destination, the more valuable an affect it will have on their lives and on the more they will come to care about and protect it for future exploration.

With warmly hued woods and minimalist designs, these spacious suites each feature a large window, a closet, and an easy chair. Bathrooms feature a shower and a separate toilet and sink area. Most suites contain two twin beds that can be converted to a king. Some suites can be combined for families. Your expedition specialist can arrange for your preference when you make your reservations.

Comfort & convenience in every room
Every spacious suite has a minimalist décor and luxurious overtones, and all are air-conditioned with individual controls. In your suite’s bathroom you’ll find showers stocked with organic shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. A hairdryer and bathrobes are provided as well as moisturizing lotion, a sunscreen and insect repellant combo, plus an iron and ironing board, though our casual, expedition-style of travel ensures you’ll likely have no need to press your clothes for exploring.

Delfin II’s four master suites are located at the front of the ship, below the bridge on the upper and main deck. Windows wrap around the front of the cabin offering an extraordinary 90-degree view that allows you to look simultaneously at where we’re heading and the passing riverbank. Master suites feature either a king-size bed, or two twin beds that can be converted to a king. Your expedition specialist will arrange for your preference when you make your reservation. Master suites also feature a writing desk and chair, and an easy chair.

DAY 3-8: Exploring the Pacaya-Samiria Reserve
Spend this week exploring the Pacaya- Samiria National Reserve, a pristine swath of jungle—stretching more than five million acres, and harboring some of the Amazon’s most fascinating flora and fauna. Bordered by the Marañón and the Ucayali, these two powerful rivers converge to create the famed Amazon, which floods annually with nutrient-rich waters and is known locally as the Mirrored Forest for the reflections created by its glassy water.

Set out into this remarkable wilderness on daily excursions by skiff, kayak, and, when the water level permits, hikes on dry land. Skim past giant lily pads afloat on black-water lakes, and venture deep into the rain forest on narrow tributaries. Spot sloths and monkeys, including variably colored saddleback tamarins, noisy howlers, and shaggy-tailed monk saki monkeys. Watch for an astounding variety of birds, from tanagers and hummingbirds to parrots and endangered scarlet macaws. In the river, look for massive paiche fish, the Amazon’s largest; rare pink dolphins; and the infamous piranhas.

Enjoy an opportunity to swim in a lake in the reserve’s interior. Seek out victoria amazonica, a giant water lily that grows in small lagoons. Go on a bird-watching hike, listening for the vocal oropendola and then looking for its telltale yellow tail. Watch the sun set and listen to a cacophonous symphony of nocturnal animals calling out across the treetops. Then slip through the forest in a skiff as night falls, using a spotlight to find caimans, frogs, fishing bats and other creatures of the night.

Pay a visit to one of the communities on the reserve’s edge and get to know the ribereños, those who live on the riverbanks, and their age-old traditions. Enjoy watching them make jewelry and other local handicrafts. Learn how local subsistence farmers cultivate wild plants and trees to earn income. Hear about how the locals find edible fruits and indigenous plants with medicinal properties hidden in the jungle. (B,L,D DAILY)
